The Nelson County Republican Committee held a Mass Meeting on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at the Fleetwood Harmony Masonic Lodge located in Lovingston.  They voted by acclamation to elect the following candidates to run under the Republican banner in the November 8th elections:

Commonwealth Attorney:   Daniel Rutherford

County Sheriff:    Mac Bridgwater

County Treasurer:     Susan Kidd Stevens

West District Supervisor:    Tommy Bruguiere (incumbent)

Guests speakers included T. J. Aldous, Republican candidate for Virginia State Senate in the 25th District;  Dickie Bell , incumbent candidate for the Virginia House of Delegates representing the 20th District and  Matt Fariss and Evans Thomas seeking the Republican nomination for Virginia House of Delegate representing the 59th District.

Delegates were also elected to represent Nelson County in the  recently redistricted 59th District at the upcoming Convention to be held at Appomattox High School on August 13th at 10:00 am.
